Welcome to Meadowview Elementary PTA

                               What is Meadowview PTA!

Meadowview PTA is a volunteer organization dedicated to the welfare, social and academic enrichment of all students at Meadowview Elementary School. Meadowview PTA works in conjunction with school staff and parents to identify and support a wide variety of programs and activities to the benefit of our students and their families. The PTA also serves as a "collective voice" to provide input to the principal and staff on issues and opportunities here at Meadowview.

What do we do, and why do we do it?

We are all concerned that our schools have adequate financial support. As federal and state governments grapple with strained finances, public schools often fail to get the support they need when budgets are decided. While education budgets shrink, the services provided by PTAs become more crucial to student success.  The PTA fundraising efforts throughout the year support the many programs and services we provide to the students.

Some examples of programs provided throughout the year by the PTA for the Meadowview community:

Where do we get our money?

   Ø       Fall Fundraiser

Fall product booklet from Great American Fundraising makes up 50% of the PTA budget so it is instrumental in making sure we can continue to offer our programs. We earn 50% profit from all products sold except for magazines which we earn 40%.

   Ø     Spring Walkathon

Students at Meadowview take pledges from family, neighbors, and friends to walk a certain distance based on their grade level.  The Walk-a-Thon promotes healthy lifestyles and community service to students since a portion of the proceeds is donated to charities.

Ø      Market Day

Market Day is a monthly fundraiser that makes up 13% of our budget.  Market Day offers a wide variety of food items that are high quality, convenient and comparably priced. Our PTA receives 10% profit from each sale. The more we sell the more we earn. We supply the order forms via the Friday folders and customers can either return the form or place their order online. The customers pick-up their orders on the designated pick-up date in the cafeteria and pay on that day unless they choose to pay ahead online. All orders are packed and ready to go when the customer arrives.

How Families, Friends and Staff Can Help Daily

Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, family member and friends can help Meadowview Elementary with these programs.   Remember– these are year round programs!

Box Tops for Education
Box Tops is a program sponsored by General Mills and is funded by coupons clipped and saved by parents, staff, family, and friends.  The committee chair of the Box Tops program counts coupons and submits them to General Mills for a semi-annual payment directly to the PTA to use as they see fit.

Meadowview has used this program for several years, but this year is different.  We are using Loveland Elementary School as our benchmark for success.  Loveland earned over $5,000.00 last year for their school with Box Top collections alone.  Meadowview’s goal for school year 2007-2008 is to double our earnings from last year.  Our goal is to earn over $2,800.00 by collecting box tops.  Pay attention to your Friday folder in the coming weeks for the Contest Flyer.  See the list in this packet for products with Box Top labels.  Begin saving labels now for your child’s class for the coming contest starting in November.
